We have just opened applications for our Best Publisher User Experience Award.
We’re looking for you to demonstrate how you’ve put the needs and experiences of your users first.
This initiative aims to celebrate best practice in our field and inspire other publishers across the world to put the user journey at the heart of their services.

The deadline for applications is Monday 30 September . The winner will be announced at our OpenAthens Conference in March 2020.

How will it work?
Librarians and end users will lead the initial round of voting which will inform the decisions made by our panel of information industry experts. The panel will include Jisc’s senior digital content and UX manager Rich West, and Andrew Preistner, trainer and consultant from UXinLibraries. We will reveal the shortlisted publishers in February next year. The finalists will then present their work as a 10-minute case study during a webinar ahead of our conference.
What’s the inspiration behind the award?
We recently participated in the RA21 initiative and actively support the new ‘Recommended practices for improved access to institutionally-provided information resources’. This project was established to encourage publishers to engage with the access issues that librarians and their users are experiencing. Because this is so important to us, we decided to create this award to celebrate the efforts of publishers engaging in this initiative and pledge our ongoing commitment to providing simple access to knowledge for the benefit of all.
