We’re excited to announce the following three publishers have made it through to the final stage of our new ‘Best publisher user experience award’.
1.Bloomsbury: Bloomsbury Digital Resources
The Bloomsbury Publishing platform is not a single website: it is a custom-built solution that enables Bloomsbury staff to publish an extraordinary range of new online platforms (12 sites delivered since 2017). In order to meet the specialist needs of subject-specific users in a wide range of disciplines, the platform supports 20 different content types, including images, multimedia and interactive tools, and has highly flexible configuration options. For Bloomsbury Architecture Library, we added the Building Page and Glossary features, and these are incorporated alongside encyclopedias, scholarly books, image galleries, a Timeline and World Map to create an immersive, visually-rich resource.
2. Cambridge University Press – Cambridge Core
In 2016 Cambridge University Press launched a new digital content platform – Cambridge Core. The design and architecture of the new offering was driven entirely by the needs of its users. Through a journey of customer co-creation, Cambridge was able to draw out primary motivations, drivers and behaviours to create an experience that was truly fit for purpose. The result was an intuitive experience which put the moments that matter at the heart of the journey, thereby alleviating the overwhelming pain point for researchers: lack of time.
3. Emerald Publishing – Emerald Insight
Emerald are committed to making research that benefits society visible and easy to discover for the widest possible audience. This is why, in July 2019, we launched a new Emerald Insight platform that has been entirely reimagined and rebuilt.
Co-developed in conjunction with 18 universities from around the world, their close involvement and the time taken to listen and respond to their needs means the platform is uniquely tailored and provides an invaluable tool for academics, librarians and students alike. Every decision was tested and validated in partnership with our communities to ensure it makes both researchers’ and readers’ lives easier.
